Everything you need to know about Poole Bay Golf Society — competition rules, AGM notes, handicap rules and society guidelines.
Format: Stableford. Nine events between May and November.
Best 6 rounds from 9 events count towards your Order of Merit total. Maximum 180 points available (winning all 6 counting events).
Points Scale:
Event tiebreak (1st place only) — counted back in this order until a winner is decided. Note: last 9 holes means holes 10–18 as printed on the card, not the order played.
All other ties — OOM points are shared equally between tied players.
End of season OOM tiebreak (1st–4th place):
The player who wins an event will have their handicap cut by 1 shot for the remainder of that year's competition. Should they win again, their handicap is cut by a further 1 shot, and so on.
Handicaps revert to standard at the start of the new season.
This deduction is in addition to any adjustments made by the Handicap Committee at any stage of the year.
The winner is the individual who makes the most birdies or eagles throughout the season, regardless of how many tournaments are played. Points are based on the handicap in play at each event.

Tiebreak: Most birdies/eagles in last 3 events, then last 2 events, then final event.
Please circle birdies or better on your scorecard.
Payment for each event is collected ahead of the event and includes:
New members playing for their handicap can enter the optional Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin but do not need to pay the Society fee.
Please pay as soon as possible — do not leave it to the last minute as it helps with smooth organisation. Tournament organisers may also require a deposit to secure the venue.
Please only record 2 scores on each card — one for yourself as Marker, and one for whoever's scorecard you have (Player A). In a three-ball, each player should record all three scores.
Ensure scorecards are checked against your playing partner's card and signed before submitting to the event organiser at the end of the event.
Prior to each event the organiser will send out details of the venue, tee off times, and the handicap of each player. The most important aspect to get right is the gross scores — the system will calculate Stableford scores automatically.
Based on numbers from previous years, the organiser will book a minimum of 5 tee times with the option of a 6th.
In the event of oversubscription, attendance will be granted based on: number of OOM events attended in the last 2+ seasons (2023, 2024 & 2025 if applicable).
If any tournament is cancelled due to bad weather, the organiser will endeavour to get it replayed within 2–3 weeks where possible.
AGM notes will be added here after each meeting. Contact the organiser for details of the next AGM.
